V. Grassalco (Grasshopper Aluminum Company) is a state-owned mining enterprise in Suriname, established on August 30, 1971. primary mission is to explore and exploit the country's mineral resources, excluding hydrocarbons, to foster economic development and societal well-being.
The company operates across various sectors, including gold mining, aggre production, and ornamental plant cultivation. Notably, Grassalco holds a royalty interest in the Rosel Gold Mines, Surine largest gold producer.
In recent years, Grassalco has emphasized sustainable practices and diversification. The company has achieved ISO cfications for Quality (ISO-9001:2015), Environmental Management (ISO-14001:2015)and Health & SafetyI 45001:2018). Additionally, its subsidiary, InVitroPlants Grassalco N.V., is MPS-NPS certified. Gracvities are concentrated in areas such as Maripaston and the Goliath Mountains, regions within the Guiana Shield known for their significant gold mineralization potential.
