
About 1,000 persons ran and walked across Kingston, Georgetown on Sunday as part of the inaugural ‘Energise Guyana’ 5K Run/ Walk, organised by the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo (GECSCE).
The 5K event was held under the theme: “Energise Guyana: Run Towards Wellness.” Guyana’s President, Dr. Irfaan Ali; Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, and Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony were among those who participated in this exciting event.

All participants enjoyed a warm-up session with Melissa ‘Vanilla’ Roberts before diving into the scenic run/walk and other fun activities at the Marriott Beach. Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony lauded the event, noting that it aligns with the government’s goal of encouraging persons to get involved in more healthy activities.
“We want to encourage people to make sure they are eating right (and that) they are exercising so that they live longer,” the Minister of Health said.
He added, “Stay healthy, let’s make Guyana a healthy place!”
Chairman of the Guyana Energy Conference, Mr. Anthony Whyte expressed much elation at the support the event enjoyed.
The Chairman said, “I wish to thank all of our sponsors and donors for helping to make this event a huge success. We are happy that there were 1,000 persons participating and we believe this event sets the tone for an exciting conference this week. We look forward to welcoming you all to our conference from Tuesday to Friday, and our exciting Conference Village and Taste of Guyana Event.”

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Energy Conference, Kiana Wilburg noted that this event is just one of many memorable activities planned for this week.
“This is just the start of many activities we have planned to kick off the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo,” Wilburg highlighted.
The event was organised in collaboration with Stride592 and sponsored by the Ministry of Health, the ‘Men on Mission’ initiative and Star Party Rentals. DeSinco Limited, Haliborange and ANSA McAL Guyana were also generous donors.
