At the Youth Forum during the Guyana Energy Conference & Supply Chain Expo 2026, a young participant engaged directly with Vickram Bharrat on the lessons Guyana has learned from other emerging oil-producing nations.
In his response, the Minister highlighted the importance of strong local content legislation, transparency, and building opportunities for Guyanese businesses and citizens to participate meaningfully in the country’s growing energy sector. He noted that Guyana has benefited from studying both the successes and mistakes of other oil-producing countries and has worked to develop policies tailored to the nation’s own development goals.
